Centrifugal pump confirm with API 610 standard.

This pump shall confirm to below.

Pump shall be provided with one working & one stand by capacity. Each pump shall be sized to empty out the drum hold up in 15--20 minutes.
These pumps should start/stop automatically at high/low level in the drum respectively. Provision of emergency drive (steam turbine or alternate source of power) should be considered so that these pumps can be operated during the failure of normal power supply.

Regards,
Jatin

Dear jrtailor09,

could you tell me in what paragraph of the API 610 is this?

According I understand the type of pump depend of the specific velocity, usually this type of pump is centrifugal and is used for knock out drum of flare, however you are right regarding the hold up. Now according with API 521 provides about the pumps of KOD "One or more pumps are used to remove accumulated liquid from the drum. Depending on the operating philosophy, these pumps typically are started manually with automatic shut-off on low level. The driver for at least one pump should be supplied from a reliable source such as emergency electrical power or steam turbine drive."

Dear

API has not mentioned anything about the standard used for the pump for Flare KOD. I have used this one only for 3 -4 project.

API 610 stand for " Centrifugal pump for petrolem, petrochemical & Natural gas industries".

Can u tell me what is meaning of pump depend upon specific velocity ?

REgards,

Jatin
