Good day! please tell me how to calculate the flow rate (kg/h),for new unit, at the safety valve, by any standards be considered? If I'm not mistaken, Api 520 and API 521 presents methods for calculating the pressure relief valve at a known flow rate of the released product, I need to determine the initial amount of the released product from the tanks, columns, etc.

Please, help me. Thanks!!!

API 521 (ISO 23251) gives indicative values for determination of relieving rates in several cases as external fire, hydraulic expansion etc.
However this is a quite complex matter wich requires knowledge of both mechanical and process engineering, if you are not sure about the details it would be better to leave the task to some experienced engineer.

Azamat,

To do above action you strongly need to have adequate knowledge about the relevant process operation and also process/mechanical information of the system. API 521 included general guidelines for determination of individual relieving rates for all relevant applicable scenarios in a system to be analyzed in this regard.

Hi!
I have another question, i want calculate the flow rate gases safety valves of distillation column in Hysys (dinamic simulation). Please tell me my calculation is true?

1. calculated the column in static mode.
2. established regulatory and safety valves (minimum amount of valves)
3. When closing the valve V-100 and V-102 in the column pressure increases and opens the valve RV-100. However, the amount of emissions depends on the office area of the valve (the larger the office area the larger the emissions).
4. To determine the amount of emissions, I gradually increased the area of the valve, which correspondingly increased emissions, but the pressure rose above the full open pressure of valve.
5. Gradually increasing the area of the valve so I reached the area where the system pressure does not exceed the higher pressure full open pressure of relief valve.
6. I accepted this as minimum area;
7. A certain amount of emissions for a given minimum area I made it as results of the my calculation.

P.S. Attached Hysys file in V7.3. Numbers and composition are taken as an example, this column is given me only for the calculation of safety valves. (http://files.mail.ru/LP6QNW)

Thank you very much!
