Respected Sirs, This is a basic query before I present a detailed one subsequently. I have used PRO-II versions 6.1 and 8.0 so far. It is observed that in PRO-II simulation software, in the input file, stream properties can be defined / incorporated "either" in terms of assay (i.e. distillation data) "or" in terms of "component composition". Kindly guide me how can I define a stream in PRO-II input file, whose part-composition is given in terms of components (e.g. the gaseous part) and the balance part (i.e. liquid) in terms of assay (i.e. TBP data). Kindly refer the.xls file enclosed along with this message for further clarity on this issue. This stream will go to a stripper column as feed which I have to simulate. I have decided following way out: Option-1: Use a hypothetical mixer in the PRO-II flowsheet input file. Imagine two streams. One stream (say stream-1)is purely the gaseous part consisting of the 5 gaseous components. This I will define in terms of composition. The other stream (stream-2) will be the liquid assay part which I will define from IBP-EP as assay input. The stream post mixer (stream-3) will be the column feed. Practically in field there is no mixer. It is just for theoretical simulation exercise. Is the above approach correct?? Is there any other better way out?? Will be grateful to get some replies. Request not to chide me as I am putting up a very basic question. Thanking You, With Sincerest Regards, Kingshuk Sen.

Hello,
If you are using the keyword interface (.inp and .out). Define the same stream (with given distillation) with Light Ends Card. Here is the input file attached for your ready reference. Attached keyword input file consists only light ends data and TBP distillation data as provided in attached excel for the feed stream DHDT_naphtha. (You need gravity either some data points or avg value for characterization).
Needs correct inputs for the below entries, in bracket are the assumed values and needs to be corrected, I have used PR as thermodynamic model and you can modify/tune/replace to match the results .

1.Flow rate (100 barrel/d)
2.Temperature (40 C)
3.Pressure (10 kg/cm2)
4.Avg Sp.Gr. (0.70)
Hope it helps you.
