Dear all,
We need to implant a distribution PVC pipe system for ferric cloride, from the recepcion trainstation at 2132.33m of altitud to the storage tanks situated about 2 kilometers. The highest point in the system it's at 2112.7 m, the lowest point it's at 2101.8 m and the discharge point it's at 2109.00 m.
We want to transfer the fluid from the reception tanks to the storage by pumps, although it could be by gravity, in order to control the filling of the tanks and the flow.
We are thinking instal a regulation presure valve, at the end of the line, but we are not sure about the eficiency and if we are going to have any problem with the presure on the line. We have no place to instal a regulation tank.
Could anyone help us? Anybody has another idea? Could sombody tell me which is the most recomendable regulation presure valve for this situation?
Thank you

There are two options:
1, install the pump and regulation valve near the resource tank. The pressure regulation valve can be globe valve. With this installation, the piping pressure rating may be lower because the piping pressure rating will be the friction loss plus the liquid elevation head. The disadvantage is that you may have a channel flow inside the piping. The channel flow will increase the bottom erosion of the piping. At same time, vacuum breaker is required at the highest point of the piping.
2. You can install the pump near the resouce tank and the regulation valve at the reception tank. Globe valve can be used for pressure regulation. With this installation, you will eliminate the channel flow inside the piping. However, you will create a blockage when the pressure regulation valve closes. In this case, the pressure rating of the piping will be at least the dead head of the pump plus the liquid elevation head. You probably will end with a higer piping pressure rating. PSV may be required for this installation too.
