Hi

I require to calculate the outage and innage volumen to determine the gross capability of a spherical tank. This tank will store Propylene at 38ºC but then is cooled to 5ºC. The net capacity is 3000 m3 . Can any one advice me how to estimate these volumes.

Thanks in advance

I would appreciate knowing the definition of "outage" and "innage" in your query. Is your tank perfectly spherical? What are its dimensions?

Outage: Thermal expansion volume of the liquid.
Innage: Remaining volume of the sphere at the bottom below the higher end of the suction line of the pump. (inside the sphere).

Yes, our tank is perfectly spherical.

The project is in conceptual fase and we don´t have the dimensions yet. The idea is to get real dimensions once the outage and innage volume is obtained. For the net capacity (3000 m3) the tank dimensions could be 22.55 m of diameter, but we need to add the volumes listed above.
