Hello everyone, I am engineering student doing my final year. I am working on project Flare gas recovery system & i am planing to make simulation of FGRS as well as its cost estimation. I will very helpfull if any one give me good guidence & how to do component balance for FGRS.
Thank you.

Imran2307,
What do you mean by component balance? Are you asking for a material balance across the FGRS? If you are aware of FGRS system the leakage gases / vapors from relief valves to flare header is required to be completely recovered using a FGRS system. What this means is the entire waste gases routed to the flare enter the FGRS. The flare only activates if the flare header gets pressurized due to emeregency flaring and the emergency device (rupture disk / buckling pin) connecting the flare activates. During emergency flaring the flare gas is routed to the flare and not to the FGRS.
Current practice is to install flowmeters on main flare headers which provide the quantity of waste gas to the flare. A temporary gas chromatograph may be connected to the main flare header to measure the gas composition to the FGRS. The material balance is then just the component composition as weight percentage multiplied by the total mass flow as measured by the flowmeter in the flare header.

Ankur

Thank you so much for your valuable reply Ankur, Concept of FGRS is clear to me.
As i said i want to do material balance for FGRS. So where do i find the data related to it because i am student & don't related to any industries. My another question is i am planning to do simulation of FGRS. So, which Software is best do simulation? & litrature related to simulation of FGRS.
