We are experiencing frequent plugging of inner surface of injection quill ( 45 Deg quill with slot) used for chemical injection in water stream. We suspect the orientation of the angled face of the quill with respect to the flow direction as one of the causes. Are there any guideline/ good engineering practice for the orientation of the injection quill w.r.t flow direction?

Indiana,
I believe that the face of the quill should be in the direction of flow of water.

I believe that you need to probe deeper to find the problem. Your suspicions may be absolutely wrong.

Indiana,
As mentioned above, the orientation of the angled part of the quill should be faced to the water flow.
And what are the dimensions of the slot?
