Hi all,
I am looking for websites, books, journals etc with information on steam reformers so any suggested sources would be great.
Thanks

Hi
Go to the library and search for
McKetta, J.J, ”Encyclopedia of Chemical Processing and Design” and Encyclopedia by "kirk othmer".
You find alot of literature from the above Encyclopedias, also you will get the references of the journals containing information about Steam Reformers.
Try the book
Samuel Strelzoff's "Technology and Manufacture of Ammonia"
Check the following sebsite
http://www.howstuffw...-processor2.htm
I hope this helps.

Ali

Hi
For the the design of any Reactor you should first get of the Reaction Rate Equation. Since it is a very well known and common Reaction, you should be able to get the Rate Equation easy. If you still don't get the Rate Equation after the efforts then you can you the Space Velocity also (but this is the last resort and the design is not that good as that from the Rate Data).
You should be doing the Material Balance and Energy Balance around your reactor.
Understand the Reaction Kinetics, opearating temperature and pressure, what kind of catalyst to use and what reactor you will use for this reaction.
Well the Encyclopedias should have references to the literature from where you get the kinetic data. Read a good Reaction Engineering Book from where you will know how to design the type of reactor you want to use for your reaction.
Once you have the Rate equation you will be able to calculate the volume or weight of the catayst required and then the dimensions of the reactor required
I hope it helps.
