Emerson provides free software at their site. But best to have the valve manufacturer size the valve for you.

Yes I have been using it(Emersion Fisher) to size the valve. But I was interested in studding the literature.

I have found a manufacturer sheet where they suggest a procedure. In that procedure they calculate cv for separate phase . Like for gas phase they calculate cv. And then for liquid phase they calculate another cv. After that they add these two cv to find the cv of multiphase control valve.

I have been using softwares from two manufacturer. One is from circor named circor select. Another is Emerson Fisher But the problem is the component we have in our process contains mixture of natural gas and water. When I tried to define these components in circor select it showed some error. Then I tried to enter the properties manually.

Now the problem is it asks for mass flow rate. Which is constant irrespective of pressure & temperature condition. But when I need to put density. It should be in standard condition. Right? Because I thought for cv calculation volumetric flow rate is in standard condition. So if the software converts my given mass flow rate to volumetric flow rate it will use my given density. Which should be in standard condition.

Though I am convinced that the density I use in the software should be in standard condition but my senior think it otherwise.

So am I wrong?

as general comment, do not expect accurate results adding CV for liquid and gas phases calculated separately,

vapor and liquid phases can be mixed,

there are papers discussing this matter (see the work of Schmidt etc.),

in Europe there are valve's manufacturers as Samson (samsoncontrols) which created specific software (not sure if it's available to public).

also Prode (prode.com) has code for these applications (control valve sizing with vapor+liquid flow) 

with two models,  HEM and HNE,

note that flow coefficient is (by definition) the normalized flow rate through the valve,

and you can assembly a general correlation.

You may find papers or contact the mentioned companies for additional information.

The literature available is good for learning but if you really want to size the valve then it is better to use vendor supplied software

Attyub194 has linked (from Samson site) one of the works by Schmidt and Diener which I mentioned in my previous post,

this is based on HNE (simplified, see omega method) model,

a different approach is that based on rigorous HEM model, for this I know a code by Prode but probably others can offer similar features (ask manufaturers)
