Hi ,

 

 I Want Your Help About This Issue!

 

Suppose I Have Two Hydrocarbon Mixtures ,Each Mixture Has Known Composition & Freezing Point , Is There Any Empirical Formula To Calculate The Freezing Point Of a Blend Of Those Mixtures With Volume Percent 10:1?

For a reliable answer, you will probably need to collect your own experimental data for analysis. Freezing is difficult to generalize into a formula because it requires a certain orderliness of molecules which do not necessarily correspond directly with easily measured properties. Most of the work I am aware of has concentrated on predicting hydrate formation and CO2 freezing in gas processing applications. Even in those cases where there is great commercial interest, the formulae struggle to give accurate predictions.

there are general correlations as those developed by Riazi and Sahhaf (see Characterization and Properties of Petroleum Fractions by Riazi, see the paragraph prediction of Freezing/Melting point) which should give good estimates for homologous hydrocarbons groups,

however (according my experience) it's better to solve a multiphase phase equilibria where you can select a proper model for solid fugacity,

for some hydrocarbons equilibria I got accurate results with the SSM model included in Prode Properties,
