Dear sir..

i am a chemical engineering final year student.. this semester we are assigned to design an aromatic plant which is to produce benzene and paraxylene from naptha.. the major product is paraxylene.. i was assigned to design the CCR Platforming unit.. the feed to the platforming unit contains these components; n-heptane, n-octane, n-nonane, cyclo-hexane, cyclo-heptane, cyclo-octane, toluene and paraxylene.. the reactor inlet temp. is 530 deg. Celcius at 1 atm while at the outlet the temp is 400 deg. celcius at 1 atm.. the catalyst that i have chosen is platinum-alumina which is bimetallic catalyst type..

i understand that first step to design a reactor, the chemical design is the first stage for the calculations.. thus the mechanism of the reactions must be known correctly.. this is in order to get the rate constant, k from the Arrhenius equation.. thus from this the reactor volume can be calculated..

the platformer itself involves many types of reactions which are dehydrogenation, isomerization, dehydrocyclization and cracking.. my question is in order to get the rate constant, k values for the reactions in the reactor.. do i need to calculate one by one of the reactions involved? Or is there any other way to do it? can somebody please help me to solve this problems.. i really need to understand this..

one more question.. can anybody tell me where can i get free online journals on the web.. it seems to be difficult for me to find some journals regarding on catalyst or other chemical engineering related.. most of the journals need to be purchased..

here is my email add ydode@yahoo.com.. please email to me if anybody have the information regarding on this.. thank you..
