Hello All,
I am wondering if connecting sets of electrodes in series in a single, stagnant body of electrolyte will give an increase in voltage comparable to that which one might expect when connecting discrete batteries in series. I've tried google and done a fair amount of literature searching but haven't found anything as to whether this will work when the electrolyte is stationary. A fair amount of work has been done to show that electrodes can be connected in series in flow batteries with good effect, however I am not sure whether this would work if the electrolyte isn't moving.
I can think of a number of reasons both for why this would work and for why it wouldn't work but I can't seem to get any sort of definitive answer so this has really been driving me crazy; I'd appreciate the help. Any references would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven
