Dear All,

I am to perform a surge analysis for a diesel pipeline using AFT Fathom. My internet search tells me that it can be performed using AFT Impulse but since its not available I am doing it with AFT Fathom.

I am trying to close the valve and check the pressure profile but the problem is I am not able to close the valve. I tried giving valve open percentage = 0% but it doesn't converge.

Can anybody guide me the correct procedure to do it.

Thanks

as far as I know with Fathom you need

an additional module to simulate transients,

these are solved by direct integration

not solving PDE via method of characteristics

as in Impulse

AFT Fathom doesn't really do "Surge Analysis". The so called "transient module" is acutally quasi steady state at each computational step. Use AFT Impulse instead.
