Existing flame arrestor (FA) n the flare header got damaged. As the same size FA is not available and a smaller size FA is readily available, what are the issues to be considered in installing a FA smaller than the flare header pipeline size? Please guide to any Excel worksheet link for flare header pipeline pressure calculations.

Personally I do not like the use of flame arrestors in flare headers because of exactly this sort of thing, they get da  Imaged or plugged and compromise the effectiveness of this very important safety system, and I certainly would never consider putting in a smaller one to further restrict the flare header capacity.  If you absolutley have to put one back in, pay the extra to get the proper size unit expedited out to you.
