Hi

just a  question regarding PSV. I just go through a flare load summary datasheet that will be submitted to vendor . for each PSV, a relief load is specified ( for example in fire case 3500 kg/hr , reflux failure case 2000 kg/hr and ... ). I want to check these load value but I do not know about relief load calculation precedure.

I will appreciate you if you give me some help

sincerely yours

rasprocess,

When you are to be assigned to check the PSVs relief loads you already have to know about relief load calculation for all relieving scenarios. The API 521 is a good starting point. Go ahead and if in this way you would face to a specific problem let's know to help...

Hi,

You have asked something which has no single line solution. It is neither difficult nor so easy to calculate relief load for PSV.

Go through API Standard 521 (Pressure relieving and depressuring systems) thoroughly.

It will give answer to all your queries. But you will also need guidance from an experienced person to tell you how to apply those guidelines explained in API Std.521
