What is the best free software for this? Can I trust in their results?
Sorry for all the wrong english.

There are no "free" software programs for designing a shell & tube heat exchanger. The program of choice is HTRI and anything resembling it in complexity and the amount of engineering development that has gone into it puts it in the price range of many thousands of dollars.
You have to face reality: anything that requires so much work, effort, training, expertise, and know-how has to be priced accordingly. On top of that is the engineering reality of life: there are no free lunches or rides in life - especially in the engineering world.

Thanks!
We were wanting to make an initial prediction, only to get an idea about dimensions and efficiency. We’ll need to calculate by ourselves or hire a consultant, because we don’t make designs frequently, so it isn't worth buying a license of specific software.
We’ll try to adapt some old spreadsheets and use them to make the initial prediction we need.
Anyway, thank you for the advice!
Sorry for all the wrong english.

Tacito,

Can you trust its result? You decide yourself.
Software is only a tool, the user should take full responsibility.
Good luck.

Thanks for everyone!
I didn't know any tool.
They are interesting, and their tools are very useful.
Many times we spend a lot of time developing spreadsheets like those, and they are done.
As previously mentioned, we will make an initial prediction, just to get a idea about dimensions. Those tolls will help us a lot.
