for straight run requirements for upstream and downstream of flow meters i know approximately 10 D upstream and 5D downstream length straight run is required . But i want to whether any valves or fittings are allowable in this straight run distance?pls explain.

Based on my past experience, should be straight piping only (any valve and fittings are not allowed). We call it straight length of pipe. Some call it as meter run. any type of fittigns can cause "eddy" in flow of fluid and might make the reading inaccurate. Some type flowmeter didn’t required straight length such as positive displacement and corioliss.
