Hi All,

There's this question which has been baffling me for quite sometime. What is the difference between Char and Coke. I googled , but unable to find any material describing the morphological and structural difference. I will really appreciate your help in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

Please refer to Oxford dictionary.

Char: Residue obtained by burning to blackness a combustible matter

Coke: Residue obtained by removing volatile matter from coal.

(My addition) It is also the residue obtained by cracking heavy petroleum hydrocarbons.
