Hi everybody! I just have little conceptual doubts about Fenske and Underwood derivation for minimum number of stages and minimum reflux ratio in distillation columns.

 

It's just the following, why can we say that minimum number of stages is that one for total reflux ratio and minimum reflux ratio is that one for top operating line crossing bottom operating line on equilibrium curve (pinch point)?
