Hi,

I am a Process Engineer. Working in Oil and Gas company.

I have come across few Flow meters which is in condensate line. The condensate is flashing across the Flowmeter. I am concerned about accuracy of all Flowmeter wherever there is flashing and mechanical stability of Turbine meter.

I understood in Turbine meter, there is no other option but to elevate the  vessel, so that the Flowmeter pressure drop will be gained and prevent flashing in meter.

But other meters, like Senior Orifice, if we cannot elevate the vessel height, can we allow the flashing to take place in Flowmeter to some extent?

if yes, what will be the maximum allowable percentage of Flashing?

Please clarify.

Thanks.

To raise the liquid level in the vessel is more economical option than to elevate the vessel in most cases.

Would an orifice downstream of the flowmeter help?

To avoid vapor flash across a liquid flow meter, you have to ensure that the downstream pressure of the flow meter is higher than the vapor pressure of the liquid at the considered temperature by whatever means.
