Hi All,

I would like to know if there is a way to mix 2 gas streams at different pressures (one stream at 3 bar and another stream at 10 bar) and the resultant pressure of the mixed stream is still at 10 bar.

I am aware that an ejector which makes use of venturi effect to suck in the low pressure stream is possible but the resultant pressure of the mixed stream cannot reach 10 bar.

The reason why I am asking this is because I am now working on a proposal to find out ways to replace the existing recycle compressor which compresses nitrogen enriched air from the cold box from 3 bar to 10 bar, and then mixed with the feed atmospheric air from main air compressor which is at 10 bar. The mixed stream (which must be at 10 bar) will then be sent to the cold box for distillation.

I also thought of passing the recycled gas from cold box ( 3 bar) through the ejector, use the suction effect to suck in atmospheric feed air (1 bar) and then enter the main air compressor to be compressed to 10 bar. However, this requires upsize of the exisiting compressor in order to take in the extra volume of the recycled gas.

If you find such a device, let us know.
