Hi everyone. I have a PD pump with the liquid viscosity ranging from 500-5000. I understand that the viscosity is one of the main parameter used to size a PD pump. Initially I provided data @ 5000 cp to pump vendor and informed that the pump shall be able to handle a lower viscous liquid (500 cp). Then vendor asked me the discharge pressure of pump at 500cp. Any one can advise how this will affect the selection of the PD pump? Thank you.

Less viscosity = more slippage = less flow. Also, the flow of less viscosity is affected by pressure more than flow of high viscosity (more slippage).

The negative effect is very low, close to nil. Based on pump type, each of the viscosity values could be considered, at least as much time as the fluid is Newtonian.
