Dear Ponraj
1. Please take note that HAZID and HAZOPS are the recommended method for HAZARDS Identification while LOPA and SIL are RISK assessment tools.
2. You can use HAZIDS or HAZOPS depending on the experience level members of the team.
2. My experience so far indicates that HAZOPS is good enough.
3. LOPA and SIL normally carried out upon recommendation by the HAZOPS team whenever the team members found that the recommended layer of protection is not good enough therefore risk will provide the justification for additional layer of protection.
Hope the above comment helps.

HAZID is sometimes called PHA (Preliminary Hazard Analysis) and should be performed before HAZOP.
It deals with non-process hazards such as: plot, construction, maintenance, production, environment, people safety, fire protection interfaces, etc... and can be performed during Basic or FEED studies. It is a kind of brainstorming using a standard checklist.
On the other hand, HAZOP is best Performed during detailed design and deals with process Hazards only (including start-up, shutdown and normal operations).
