Dear all,
I have one glass coil condenser having area of1.5 m2, Above the glass line Reactor of500 lots, I have to do the distillation of ethylene di chloride in that vessel, Therfore I have to calculate overall heat transfer coefficients for condeser to check the feasibility of condenser So please anybody can tell me the method for estimation of overall heat transfer coefficients it glass coil condenser, or roughly values if poss

Since this is an estimate, design it like any other pipe coil condenser. The Heat Exchanger Design Hand Book has sections entitled "Helical Coils.

Dear All

 

Considering No Non condensables ;For Pure component condensation in Glass Coil Condneser ,You can Safely take as 150 Kcal/hr-Mt2-Deg C if installed in vertical Position and vapor flow from down to up position

 

Glass Has Very low conductivity .But due to very smooth surface ,Fouling factors are very Low .

 

Heat transfer coefficients and Performance  vary with Non condensables -Coil Thickness -Actual Heat transfer Area-Operating Pressure
