I am doing a liquid/liquid extraction lab. I was wondering when we calculate the number of stages, what to do if the number of stages we calculate are less than 1? I was asked to put an explanation in my theory section of the report on this, but I’m not sure how to explain this.

Please explain how you came to the conclusion of the number of equilibrium stages.
An engineering way to explain is to present your calculations, deductions, hunches, guesses, or what ever method you used or have acquired to arrive at your results.
This will allow our members to help you in your basic query.
