Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask about the problems in solid-solid powder blending.

we have a ribbon blender and we are mixing Potassium Nitrate and Dolomite powder in 50-50% ratio, but we are not getting uniform mixing, sampling of final product shows 70% Potassium nitrate.

I have not personally observed the operation, I am planning to visit the site in next week. I would like to know what data should I collect and how to improve the mixing ?.

I have collected following data from internet.

   Data                               PN                                   Dolomite

1) Particle size           0.3 mm                                    0.42 mm

2) sp gravity                 2.109 gm/cc                              2.85

3) Appearance           slightly clumpsy in nature       free flowing crystal

Sharing of any practical experience or some good reading material  will be much helpful.

Hi ,

You should discuss with vendors , they should be able to provide assistance and perform test in their lab .

Regarding mixing , you consider the duration of the operation and check for segregation .

my 2 cents,

Breizh
