Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you about the technology of internally heat integrated distillation column, which can ensure an important reduction in the energy required for the reboiler and the condenser. Paricularly I would like to ask you if you could provide with any conceptual design of HIDiC in hysys or aspen plus.

Thank you in advance!

I have not access to Aspen (I use Prode) and I do not know if there specific solvers, maybe you can adapt existing solvers by controlling the heat added / removed in each tray but convergence would be slow...

Can you explain what you mean by "internally heat integrated distillation column"?

Thank you for both answers. Internally heat integrated distillation column is a "new" technology in which the rectification part of the distillation column operating at higher pressure is used to transfer its heat to the stripping section aiming to decrease the amount of utilities that are used in the conventional distillation and trying to increase the efficiency of the distillation column. I hope I gave you a good description, now I am also getting familiar with this idea and I work on it.

Dear Mr. Serra,

Could I ask you some more questions about the simulation of the HIDiC?

as said I have a different software which I link with Matlab or similar tools for specific design or optimization,

this allows some additional flexibility,

anyway, I have not solved these columns with Prode and I do not know if there are examples for Aspen (you may ask Aspen technical support ...),

in principle it should be possible to optimize the operating conditions in the different trays depending from some parameters but maybe you need a specific solver for that...
