Dear Sir,

 

I will transfer cracker bottom product via pipeline (most of them on pipe rack).

The compositions are shown below:

 

1. Xylene 0.06% mole

2. C9       23.16% mole

3. 204-288 C-PGO 42.36% mole

4. 288+ C-PFO 33.08% mole

Operating temperature 90 degree C

Pressure 15 kscg

Density 990-1040 kg/m3

 

Moreover, new pipeline out from battery limit to the other battery limit (on pipe rack 5 km.) shall be designed without any flanges.

Refer to above information, I don't think that the leakage detection shall be required.

Furthermore, cracker bottom is quite different with LNG, LPG, Ethylene which will be vapor cloud if it's leak.

In addition, the pipeline shall be designed to be on pipe rack and far away from excavation.

I would appreciate it if you could give me the advice about my decision.

Hi PSU,

 

I tend to agree, but so long as these lines are onsite and a field operator drives the route of the lines every day.  You could also readily have logic in a control system checking by balance that the tank level changes over hours as expected from total of inflows and outflows.

  
If the line was considered a pipeline and through offsite or community areas then monitoring and risk reduction may need to be more, and the local regulatory authorities may have their own requirements.
