Hi

I'm struggling to figure out how to estimate the temperature of a agitator shaft entering a gear box. Please see attached pic:

120L vessel - 220 C
160mm high agitator shaft inside the vessel (same as liquid height).

Double mechanical seal

Height of shaft outside the vessel = 200mm

shaft diameter = 40mm

Room temperature = 20 C

Shaft inside the gearbox = 70mm
SS 316L shaft - Thermal conductivity ~18.5 w/m.K

I'm very rusty with my heat transfer calculations, currently trying to remind myself but some guidance would be highly appreciated.

Thanks
