Vacuum Evaporator With Mechanical Vapor Recompression

I dont know how to start up the process to reach steady state. In reality air is circulated through the system by the vaccum pump until operating temperature is reached. then water is pumped into the hot system. the generated vapor is then recompressed by the vacuum pump. the superheated vapour is used in the heat exchanger of the evaporator and the preheater.

Whats the purpose of doing this simulated process startup as you have done?

Is it just to understand how an MVR works?

I am only interesed in simulating the steady state process of a vacuum evaporator with mechanical vapor recompression. Energy gets delivered into the system by the vacuum pump by compressing vapor. I would like to run the system at 0,5bar and 87°C. how can I achieve these conditions?

 

I might have the wrong configuration, this is what I would like to simulate in aspen plus (from chemcad):

You must have x2 separators (MULTI EFFECT) for proper configuration of MVR. As a side note the key displayed at lower left corner; is it automatically made with Aspen+ or you made it manually? Definitely interesting for me

Hi ,

a few brochures about MVR and evaporation .

 

note : For  start up you need live steam , until the system is generating its own steam .
