Dear Sir,

I am aware about crude distillation system corrosion control method like caustic addition for salt hydrolysis mitigation above temp of 121 Deg C especially for magnesium salts and also also filming amines addition for overhead tower and also neutralizing amines for overhead crude column for mitigating HCL formation and also to control overhead PH. I know if we add water in overhead acidic environernment, it will dilute some of the HCL ,but still neutralizing amines will be necessary as for raising the PH also.

I am also aware about calcium naphthanate formation with calcium salts with naphthenic acids which tends to stabilize the emulsion layer inside desalter also along with sodium and ammonium naphthanate. But my query is why we need to control ph of desalter and range of PH for desalter will be same as overhead PH control like 5.5 to 6.5.? Also what is the range of control for desalter brine and desalter wash water ph ?

Request all elite members to share their expertise .

Thanks

Best Regards,

Chetan Chavan
