Hello everyone,

I am performing TSV sizing calculation to protect a 14'' pipeline.

Handling fluid is crude oil.

Solar radiation is 82 degC.

Anyone pls reply here, how to calculate Isothermal Compressibility Coefficient (χ)?

Regards,

Peru.

Hi ,

You should find the answer using the search engine in this forum , Latexman if I remember well  published a post on this topic.

Good luck

Perumal,

you can calculate the pressure rise due solar radiation using simulation software as per following steps:

1- Creat stream of the crude oil under normal temp and pressure.

2- Copy same stream using solar radiation temperature.

3- Adjust the pressure of the new stream till you get same density of the original stream.

In my company we do not size a thermal relief valve for protection against solar radiation. We simply specify a 'D' orifice.

Having said that one must be careful and also look at the fluid handle (like LPG) in the system.
