Hi All,

 

A fired heater does not have an insulated stack (either outside or inside using refractory). Corrosive compounds like sulfur usually condense and fall inside the fire box on the heater floor. A decision was made to insulated this stack as part of an asset integrity program.

 

My question is: Would insulating the stack affect the flue gas composition and environment emissions?

Hi.

 

If stack is not tight some amount of trump air is getting inside. After isolation of the stack, the amount of trump air should be lower and oxygen content in flue gas should be also lower.
