I need to calculate Overall Heat Transfer Coefficient for a BKU TEMA type Kettle Reboiler. I'm thinking of calculating Q = m Cp dT for either of the fluids and then do U = Q / (A * LMTD). But, in my search of the right approach to calculate LMTD for Kettle type Reboilers, I found in GPSA handbook that LMTD is not applicable for Kettle Reboilers, and TMTD is to be used in place of LMTD. Can someone please let me know how to calculate TMTD for BKU type Reboilers? Also, someone please let me know the right approach to solve my problem, if you feel that my approach is wrong.
