Ejector Or Blower?

Hi,

What method do you suggest to increase the pressure of a stream with high value of sulfur contents (more than 50% mole fraction H2S, COS and mercaptans) from 0.2 barg to 0.8 barg? Flow rate is 1000 kg/hr with intermittent service.

Blower or steam ejector?

Hi

In my project there is an Acid gas stream with high value of sulfur content (more than 50% mole fraction H2S, COS and mercaptans) from top of regenerator that shall be sent to SRU. But its pressure is not adequate to overcome B.L. pressure because of some limitations on HP steam provision in regeneration reboiler. For pressure increasing according to very corrosive service which method is proposed, ejector or blower?

Flow rate is 1000 kg/hr

Pressure is 0.2 barg (B.L. pressure is 0.8 barg)

At present there is not any PFD or PID.

Note : For non corrosive material  you should consult vendors ( graphite , Teflon or exotic material like Hastelloy )

I think, you are talking about regenerator of Gas sweetning unit. There are ways to transfer vapors from regenerator depending on your downstream system. 

 

In of the project I worked, we had low pressure vapor, generated from regenerator of TEG units, to be sent to acid gas compressor suction. The pressure levels were similar to yours. We employed ejector in that. However, you need a motive fluid for the ejector. We have used small portion of high pressure dry gas as motive fluid for ejectors. In your case, you should evaluate whether you have motive fluid with sufficient pressure and is it worth using it coz, motive fluid will be lost in acid gases. 

 

Consider using, liquid ring compressor also. They are widely used these days in vapor recovery system e.g. for regenerator overhead vapors in TEG units, flashed vapors from low pressure storage tanks, etc.  

 

Also, i am not sure, which technology you are using, but consider increasing the regenerator pressure if you can. For TEG units, you are bound to operate at low pressure but for certain GSU units, you can go with higher pressure regenerators.
