Hi,

 

For TEG Absorption Towers, I have encountered that Hydrocarbon Skimming facilities should be considered at the bottom of contactor.

 

1- The necessity of this facility is not clear for me as normally liquid phase is separated from gas stream upstream of contactor (using inlet separator or filter separator). I believe that possible HC absorbed by glycol would be separated in flash drum downstream of contactor as well. So what is the purpose of HC skimmer.

 

2- Design of HC skimmer: 

- Is it necessary that we consider 3phase separation at the bottom (for example weir plate)?

- as HC will not always exist the control of TEG level is based on Gas/Glycol interface or HC/Glycol interface?
