Pressure Control Of A Separator

There is a separator with two control valves to maintain pressure of the equipment (separator).
 

The purpose is to maintain 250 psig at separator. For the pressure control valve-1, at what pressure should it start to open ? will it be at 250 psig or higher. What sizing cases should be made for PV-1? Should it be 250 psig at inlet? What will be controller output % at 250 psig pressure?
 

Also for pressure control valve-2 what pressure should it start to open? What sizing cases should be made for PV-2?

The controller will do the job , set point  is yours .

like what is meant by 50% of controller output?
when controller output goes beyond 50%...does it mean pressure is rising much high than 250 psi

what is meant by controller output % In split range control system the controller output splits into 0-50% and 50-100% to manipulate relevant actuator.
like what is meant by 50% of controller output?
when controller output goes beyond 50%...does it mean pressure is rising much high than 250 psi it means the pressure will tend to rise higher than 250 psig

your both valves are for outlet, then normally split control will be ok, like 0~50%(OP), open valve1, 50~100%, open valve2, how to size your valve, also depends on your downstream pressure, confirm it.

Dear Art, 

 

No it is not a student problem. What makes you think it's a student problem?
What difference will it make if I post it here or on student forum. 
I am a young engineer starting out in the industry and trying to learn. 
How do you classify the queries is a student query or an industrial forum query? What are the parameters you're using?
Lot of the more experienced engineers seem to make these kind of comments in the forums instead of helping out young engineers
With all due respect, I think it is also important to share knowledge and mentor young engineers. I am sure someone must have helped you...and I don't expect you had the knowledge you have now, right out of university!

James,

No one who responds to forum questions is paid for their service here. You are welcome to participate. Did you find the answers you were seeking about your initial question? Your recent post after three months does not seem directly related to the initial question. I am glad you want to share your knowledge. I hope you find opportunity to do so in these forums. If you have the answers, post it in this forum so others can learn from your experience. If you do not have the answers after three months, why not? 

  I will offer this advice to a young engineer starting out in the industry and trying to learn:

1) Don't publicly criticize things you do not understand. There is usually a reason behind procedures and rules and just because you do not understand the reasons does not make them stupid or evil. Dig deeper to find out 'why'. Involve a limited number of people in your investigation and expand the investigation if needed. Pronouncing judgement on something you are ignorant about is not good practice.

2) Don't ascribe evil motives to another without sufficient evidence. You cannot know what another person is thinking unless they reveal it. In general, others are not trying to get you to fail, they are not trying to steal your work, they are not hoping you will make mistakes. 

3) If your actions/work/speech/writing is criticized, be grateful. It is extremely difficult to get someone to offer an honest critical opinion. There is great value in an honest appraisal even where there is disagreement on its legitimacy.
