Hello everyone,
I would like to ask you if it correct to say that a steam furnace can be considered as heat recovery steam generator?
Also, could you provide me any material related to heat recovery steam generators?
Thank you in advance!

The phrases 'steam furnace' and 'heat recovery steam generator' are not commonly interchangeable terms referring to the same equipment. By 'steam furnace' are you referring to a blast furnace for smelting where the blowers are powered by steam? Or do you mean something else?

Hi Pilesar thank you for your reply. I am referring to the steam cracker in the ethylene plant, which I consider it as a heat recovery steam generator. What do you think?

You can call it what you like. If you want to be understood, use terms generally used.

Hi Bobby,
What are the terms that I used which are cannot be understood?

There are steam generators at several locations in a steam cracker. And they do have common terms to identify each of them.

Hello Bobby,
as far as I know the only location of steam generation is the transfer line heat exchanger, which rapidly cools down the produced cracked gas. I do not really know the other locations.

Well, you got the name right.

Thanks Bobby for your answer. May I ask you in which other locations in the ethylene plant we can have waste heat recovery system?
I assume that the auxiliary boiler (which is normally for start-up or to "support" the extra steam required for downstream) is not consider as heat recovery system?
I anticipate your answer.
