Could somebody explain more precisely how to determine the number of stages for multiple installation of evaporators. Maybe we can use an example.

I have stcickwater flow of 4800kg/hr and I would like to evaporate 3200kg/hr .
I have residueal vapour of 1800kg/hr which will go to the evaporator.

How many stages should I use? I, II or III?

Thank you

Hi,

Consider the table 8-1 in my initial post .

It's all about the pay back of the project ( Operating cost vs Investment ) , comparison between single effect and multiple effects .

You need also to consider the cost of the energy and availability ( quantity and Pressure) , in house or outsourced .

Another option could be a single effect coupled with VMR .

note : Pay attention to the metallurgy of the equipment , perform corrosion study with the liquid you want to concentrate.

Documents are attached to support your work .

Good luck .
