What is the significance of rated flow of pump?

 

How to calculate the rated flow of pump?

 

what action should i take my rated flow is higher than the vendor provided rated flow?

Hi,

rated flow= design flow = normal flow + some margin

for the other questions it probably has to do with what you supplied to the vendor (specification sheet) ,

To get a better answer supply your specification sheet and pump curve with operating point ( TDH vs Qv)  from vendor.

If your service requires flow conditions that the pump cannot satisfy, then the pump is not suitable. The pump curve you attached indicates the maximum flow of the pump is less than 0.01 gpm.

Sorry for the error "GPM". actually its GPH 

 

Please refer the below parameters:

Normal flow rate is 0.05 GPH

Rated flow is 1 GPH

Differential pressure - 50psi

Hi ,

Can you share a process description for better understanding ?  more info are also needed about the pump technology and vendors .

BTW one vendor is never sufficient to make a choice !

This pump only delivers ~0.5 gph @ 50 psi. So, 1 gph is NOT the rated flow.
