Hello!

I have a question regarding AIV assessment with reference to the EI guideline.

Referring to the attached file, I have a PSV relieving to the vent header (18" line) via a 16" line.

There is a 2" relieve point after the PSV. (See attached file for visual reference)

My question here is; for AIV assessment, is my next welded discontinuity the 2" connection or the point where the 16" line meets the 18" line.

Also, in this case my sound power level is pretty high due to high relieving volume. EI suggested to increase pipe schedule but I've tried going for the thickest thickness but the LOF is still more than 1.

What other typical measures is taken for a PSV flow that causes AIV issues?

I've not done calcs like this, but that does not stop me from offering my opinion. The 2-inch line might affect the vibration positively or negatively but probably can be ignored since the main flow is through the large pipe. Consider calculations with both your options. Reviewing the results will help you determine which way is conservative and the magnitude of any differences in conclusions.
