Guys,

i just recently participated in a hazop and the question about if the scrubber system was able to pull vacuum on a tank if the tipping bag station (small hatch) valve was close, was never concluded.

I have calculated the in-breathing of the tank when contents are recirculating and scrubber fan is on pulling away all the gases from the reaction. The manway lid is never lock is only close. Normal operation says the small hatch valve must remain open. Is there anyway i could calculate the vacuum the scrubber fan could potentially create? I have never come across to that sort of calculation.

Thanks in advance

You will need to find the performance curve for the fan. The manufacturer should be able to help if you don't have documentation.
