Dears,
As you know, there are two empirical equations in API 521 to quantify the heat input into fluids within vessels: one in the presence of adequate firefighting and drainage and the other is in the absence of that.
My curiosity is about the following:
1. What does define the adequate firefighting and drainage?
I'm aware that the standard somhow leaves this to the owner. So, it is somewhat vague and each one can have his/her definition.
2. Is there any standard, article, and/or reference which elaborate on this topic? If yes, I would appreciate if you can share them.
Personally speaking, I've seen engineering organizations which have two different approaches i.e. some have the default as the adequate firefighting & drainage are present while others have it the opposite.
Your feedback is highly appreciated...
Regards,
