Team,

API 650 annex H says in H.5.2.2.3 that if circulation vents are not installed, gas blanketing or another acceptable method to prevent the development of a combustible gas mixture within the tank is required with pressure-vacuum relief device(s).

I have the following questions with respect to that:

a. Is it default to have the IFR tank without circulation vents?

b. can the vapor space between the internal roof and the fixed roof be filled with nitrogen relying on pressure-vacuum relief device(s) to maintain the pressure with a pressure regulator on the nitrogen feed line?

c. Are IFR tank required to be with pressure-vacuum device(s) if circulation vents present? "my guess, they don't - but API 2000 does not address IFR tanks"

Your feedback is highly appreciated....

Regards,
