I have 2 PSV's close to each other. Both PSV discharge to atmosphere and each have vent silencer. Is it possible to use 1 commn silencer for both PSV discharges? I have a simple sketch attached.

Hi,

What is the problem with the existing setup?

To me, NO, you have a risk to affect the operation.

Thanks Breizh. Actually, the system is not existing. I wonder if its possible to connect 2 PSVs outlets to 1 common silencer. Is there any point that I have to pay attention?

Hi,

In general and concerning back pressure standpoint, if two PSVs won't pop up simultaneously appears there would be no problem having common silencer for such two PSVs discharges...

HI,

You may want to contact these guys to get a definitive answer:

I believe a silencer is designed for a specific flowrate (design).

Common header/vent is a normal practice if sound engineering has been applied.

Pay attention that in your case superimposed backpressure is variable and depends on built-up backpressure during relief. Balanced design of both PSV is preferred.

Means should be applied to avoid a relief fluid from opened PSV gets to outlet lateral pipe of closed PSV.
