I would appreciate some help in the area of PSV's. I think I have a fairly simple application but I've never sized a PSV before.
I have a simple jacketed mix tank. The jacket will use steam or cooling water to heat/cool tank contents (the jacket will be blown out with air when switching from water to steam). My jacket is rated at 100 psig. Steam at 80 psig will be supplied through a 2" steam line. I wish to add a PSV to the jacket system to prevent over-pressurization and jacket rupture.
For sizing, among other things, I need to calculate the required steam capacity of the PSV in lbs/hr. How is this done?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
