Hi,

I'm currently sizing a PSV for liquid relief. In brief, the discharge side of a progressive cavity pump has a tee connection which branches to a spillback line equipped with a PSV. The PSV will dispose the relief liquid back at the pump suction line.

What are the example of relief cases based on this design, and which one should be the governing one?

Thanks,

Aiman

Hi,

Lack of adequate info...

But, in general, for such system you described the blocked outlet would be the relief case for mentioned PRV...

Hi,

Blocked outlet is most probably the governing scenario.

It is better to rout the relief valve outlet to the suction vessel instead of the suction piping.
