I’m a member of the Commissioning team working on our greenfield refinery project. We have steam pipelines with a minimum length of 10 KM and a maximum length of 20 KM, including laterals for consumers. Before steam blowing activity, do we need to perform rotomol cleaning? Additionally, due to the pipeline’s long length, there are numerous drip legs. What are the chances of these drip legs getting clogged with dust, rust, or scale? Is there a method to reduce the issue of dislodged scale and minimize the time required for steam header commissioning?

Hi,
You may find pointers in the link attached:

Should have been investigated during the project and costs allocated.
At minimum steam blowing. Duration depends on the cleanliness of the pipe.
Good luck
