Hi,

We have two scenarios for chilling package to cool hot water.

Scenario-1 (for Scheme-1 operation):

Hot Water In = 40 degC

Chilled Water Out = 16 degC

Water flowrate = 200 lit/min

Duty required = 350 KW

Scenario-2 (for Scheme-2 operation):

Hot Water In = 16 degC

Chilled Water Out = 6 degC

Water flowrate = 480 lit/min

Duty required = 350 KW

These two scenarios are based on two different schemes to cool potable water for safety shower and eye wash applications. I'm not going into explaining these schemes because this is irrelevant to my query (if you feel it is required, please let me know. i'll post the full explanation of these schemes also).

To select any one scheme we need to have the practical advantages and disadvantages of these scenarios to finalize any one scheme. While discussion with Chiller Package vendor about the advantages of scenario-2 over scenario-1, vendor provided us the feedback that though the duty of both scenarios is same but due to more delta T in  scenario-1 (24 degC) compared scenario-2 (10 degC) footprint for chiller package in Scenario-1 is higher than that for Scenario-2, which is a strong disadvantage of scenario-1 for us and this can be a deciding factor for scheme selection as we are having a limited available plot space.

Though we'll ask explanation for this from vendor, i wanted to look for a probable explanation for this higher footprint for scenario-1 from this community - though the duty is same.

Thanks.

Hi,

Normally you need three candidates' suppliers to perform a comparative analysis!

Check with reputable vendors.

My 2 cents
