Can we use the Restriction Orifice in Slurry Application . Checked on net and books -it is not recommeneded as fibrous slurry having un-even size biomass particles can cause frequent plugging of RO and also it is abrasive -having silica. Any toughts on this .

In slurry, RO is a one hole strainer.  Best to avoid.

Hi,

Multi holes orifice could be an option to mitigate the risk of plugging.

Google AI:

Multi-hole orifice (MHO) plates are used in biomass slurry processing to enhance hydrodynamic cavitation, a process that creates pressure changes, forming and collapsing vapor microcavities that break down the lignin-carbohydrate matrix in biomass. These multi-hole designs are preferred over single-hole orifices for improving pretreatment efficiency because they offer a higher shear area and higher cavitation intensities. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Spring-closure valves are often used instead of a restriction orifice in services which tend to clog openings.
If the valve begins to clog, it can be opened fully and then returned to a stop for its partially open position.
